I took the week off from work before my big fat ride and drove up to Tahoe to spend some time training at 6K feet above sea level. North Lake Tahoe is about 4 hours from my home—so I had plenty of time to mentally prepare for the week of training and the Big Fat Ride.
On my way up, I had a little panic attack as it started to snow. Only a week before my ride, I was freaking out about the three inches of snow fall that covered Tahoe 7 days before my ride. As much as I hated riding in the rain—I did it from time to time to raise my comfort level in the case it rained during the big fat ride. But I never even considered snow in June as a possibility.
I stopped to get gas in Truckee and just like any good kid from generation X, after five minutes of waiting at the gas pump, my attention waned and wondered off down a path of comparing my relatively new truck to my new bike. I cannot really explain what was going through my head in words and they say picture is worth more—so below is a snap shot into my little brain.
And there you have it.
If any of you are riding this weekend in the Giro de Peninsula—I will be wearing the Virsa Jersey. Say hello if you see me. Try not to call out — "Hey you’re the big fat ride guy." It is little embarrassing for both of us.

This is just confusing. Here at our office - Eating Disorder Treatment Centers, my colleagues and I are currently having the same debate about this issue. LOLS, the reason why I googled for it and found this post. Thanks again. Reply to this

It depends on what kind of group you what base this competition in. Clearly, when speed is in mind, trucks usually win since they aren't powered by human effort and adrenaline alone. However, if you carefully assess the benefits of one another, a bike gets the upperhand for its numerous health benefits and plus, it is environment-friendly Reply to this

Thats funny! A really good way to make humor out of the situation. The roads definitely seemed wet! I hate driving/riding in the rain. I'd rather just stay inside if possible. Reply to this

Thanks for the informative post. I will be sure to add your blog to my newsreader to keep up with your future posts. Being in the lighting contracting business, it's good to see things from a competing viewpoint. Reply to this
