A Big Fat Italian Ride

A couple of weeks ago, I rode in the Giro de Peninsula with Cathy Nelson (AKA the Librarian) and few other Team-In-Training teammates. It was a fun little ride hosted by the Italian Festa Foundation. The weather was perfect and the ride was incredibly well supported. The rest stop food was amazing. It was like rolling up to a fruit stand—not to mention the peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches and the well seasoned red potatoes. I was full when I finished the ride.

Below is the ride profile from the day. The dark red tracks the ride topography, second lighter red is my heart rate and the blue is my speed.

The Cathy was a great riding partnerer. She laughed at all of my jokes and told me I looked hot in lycra. OK , I made up that last part.
Here is a picture of the Cathy riding along Canada Road by HWY 92.
I have learned that most rides have a designated place to have their picture taken. So far they have always been action shots. And for whatever reason – they are action shots from the side. No one looks good from the side on a bike. At the Giro they had an automated camera system like those cameras at stoplights that capture people running red lights.
I knew the picture was coming up so I figured why not have a little fun with it.
The Russian judge took points off for the lack of leg extension but the French judge gave me a 10 for style.
If you are riding in an organized ride – I challenge you to top this pose. I will be working on my form over the next week so I am ready for the Tour de Peninsula on Sunday August 6th.
Have a good weekend.
